The KAWSx Air Jordan 4 Retro is a collaboration between Brooklyn street artist KAWS, a.k.a. Brian Donnelly, and Jordan Brand. The design removes the traditional plastic accents of the silhouette and dresses in a premium grey suede over the entire upper and midsole. The sneaker also has a branding of KAWS' 'XX' on the heel tab. The shoes were released in March 2017 along with a small capsule collection that included a jacket, hoodie, t-shirt and hat. The hype for this release was so intense that police read the riot act at the in-store raffle at Patta in London and sneakerheads hacked into Donnelly's website for an opportunity.
